IP thermometer for measuring and monitoring critical temperature
The environmental factor of temperature plays a very important role in many diverse infrastructures. Therefor when the temperatures reach a critical state in warehouses and logistics environments for example they can cause catastrophic failures which can lead to not only loss of revenue but damage to a company’s reputation.
When temperatures fluctuate, most importantly rise for example in wiring closets and server space infrastructures this can cause operational disruptions and costly downtime. Therefore it is imperative to measure the temperature in these critical server rooms around the clock with a thermometer and to be alerted when warning thresholds are reached presenting the opportunity to be proactive. These early warnings and critical alerts need to be reliably and easily sent via email or SMS.
As part of the verification obligations covered by the thermometers, temperature data should be close at hand. Monitoring the critical environmental factors such as temperature or humidity with a room monitoring system such as Didactum is required.
Tried and tested temperature control via Ethernet network
The Didactum system offers among other features a simple to setup and use network based monitoring solution which provides dependable non-stop monitoring of the temperatures and of the temperature curves via a web browser.
Any installation of software on a PC or server is not required because the Didactum remote monitoring appliances work independently. A temperature sensor (Product No. 14010) is included with each Didactum monitoring system.
This sensor has been subjected to a factory calibration so that the Ethernet-based temperature recordings can be started immediately. A connection cable and fastening material for the temperature sensor are also included.
Quick and Easy Setup
Per Didactum’s plug and play feature this SNMP-compatible temperature sensor will be auto detected when plugged into any of the ports on the Didactum controller. The sensor is then automatically displayed in the web interface for easy configuration of the temperature thresholds and alerts. Upon request this temp sensor can be installed up to 100 meter away from the controller.
This provides easy flexibility for installing the temperature sensor in the required monitored areas. After the Didactum IP-thermometer is connected to a switch or hub, access is then possible via the browser in the multi language web interface.
Each sensor connected to the Didactum controller can be configured individually from within the controllers’ web GUI. Then the temperature sensor thresholds are easily set up as required along with the alert notifications.

Didactum temperature sensor
When the temperature level has reached a warning or critical level an individual text and the actual temperature can be sent via email or SMS to several recipients. The temperature alarm from the production, storage or server room can be also trigger a siren for audio alerting, so the staff can respond more quickly to critical on-site environmental conditions.
The Didactum 500 controller models have built-in DC-relay’s and can for example turn on or off equipment such as fan or ventilators when unexpected temperature levels are reached. These desired actions are easily stored in the web front end of the Didactum controller. In the system log monitoring all critical events and actions are recorded and can be evaluated upon request at headquarters.
